1918: Treaty of Brest-Litovsk Peace deal with Germany Russia out of WWI Russia cedes territory to Germany

1923: Russia Becomes U.S.S.R. New name: Union of Soviet Socialist Republics New flag: red hammer and sickle flag replaces imperial flag

1918: All parties are banned except Communists - Early 1918: Lenin holds elections for a new parliament Communists win 175/700 seats Lenin shuts down parliament after only one day All political parties EXCEPT the Communist Party are banned
