Presentation transcript:

Title of your project Team members Well, there are more students than I was expecting, as this is not a machine learning, or deeping learning course. For those of you who were not able to enroll, don’t worry. What I heard is that many of you will drop after this class after I disappoint you.

Problem Statement <<< YOUR PROBLEM STATEMENT >>> Why is it an important problem to solve? Is it a real problem? please prove it by data or evidence How severe and prevalent is the problem? Who will benefit from you? Start from the TA 1

Research Contributions What are your research contributions? Why existing techniques cannot solve the problem? What are the technical challenges? Start from the TA 2

What is your end product? A system with unique characters? e.g., formally verified OS kernel A tool that can do special things? e.g., a concurrency bug detection tool A knowledge that can guide real practices? e.g., goto statement considered harmful A theory that proves possibilities vs. impossibilities? e.g., CAP theorem Start from the TA 2

The basic idea of your solution <<< YOUR BASIC IDEA >>> What is the technical insight? Why you have confidence that you can do better than others? You understand the problem deeper than others. This turns out the most common case. You know some techniques others do not know. You have good advisors and you bet on them. You are smarter than other people. Start from the TA 3

Design and implementation Start from the TA 4

Evaluation plan How will you evaluate it? What resources do you need? what do you plan to show in the final report? What resources do you need? datasets machines Start from the TA 5
