Shaffer’s Math Presentation Multiplying by Nine 9 x ? = ?

What is a simple way to remember how to multiply by nine? 9 x 6= ? On a piece of paper, write 0-9 down the margin. As in this: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9

Next step Then start at the bottom of your list and reverse 0-9 like this: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1

Next step WAMBO! It’s as easy as 1,2,3…. 1 x 9 = 2 x 9 = 3 x 9 = 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1

Math Rocks! In Review: Write 0-9 down your paper. Then write 0-9 up from the bottom. WAMBO! You’ve got the answers! Now just plug in the problems. Easy as 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,….
