Final Major Project Pitch

Genre My FMP short film is a horror movie, using mainly paranormal horror with only very little bits of psychological horror as well.

Description of project The film’s is based about mysterious activity happening near a streetlight next to his garden, unlike most films which are set in houses and woods. Tom notices weird activity by a streetlight near his back garden, and it continues to happen every night. He then starts to notice a mysterious figure hanging around the area of the streetlight, this figure starts to get closer to Tom and he soon realizes this figure is stalking him. DESCRIBE YOUR PROJECT – What are YOU doing? Summarise the other slides here, or take from your proposal.

Lighting, Camera, Sound and Style of this genre Because this film is a horror, the film is always set at night, and in a small lightly lit bedroom with a window. I used sounds off youtube that copyright free, and added these into my film, these sounds include; a door being knocked on, air rifle shot, phone being dialed and a wooden fence being hit. I used a college camera to shoot my film, and a torch to help make the room look lightly lit and dark. Change as appropriate. Eg: Game – Images, Gameplay, Style of genre – High res? Low-poly? 3d? 2d? Music – Sound of genre – Raw, produced, commercial, Lo-fi? Photography - Colour? Saturated? Flash? Lights? Studio / location? Candid/posed?

Basic outline of narrative Tom notices weird activity by a streetlight near his back garden, and it continues to happen every night. He then starts to notice a mysterious figure hanging around the area of the streetlight, this figure starts to get closer to Tom and he soon realizes this figure is stalking him. Storyline, subject matter, What is your project about?

Location I shot my film in the bedroom of my house, in Reigate. I also recorded streetlights near the roads surrounding my house, but nothing to far from my home.

Filming I used a college camera to shoot my short film, and we shot on only 2 of the four days i originally planned, because the filming was easier then I expected. I also decided not to shoot outside, because the lighting would’ve been too poor to display in my film, and it may of ruined the movie.

Cast/Crew list (who is doing what) Tom (Main character) Savvik (camera man)

Equipment List/Props College camera Air rifle Bipod Backpack Mobile phone

Editing Style I did not use a lot of visual and audio effects as I orignally planned to, because I felt it was not necessary for the scenes that were in my film, I increased the brightness in a couple of the scenes because it was too dark to clearly see what was happening, and I also used sounds of youtube and added them into my film (air rifle shot, door banging/kick down).

Sound effects Air rifle gun shot Phone being dialed Door being knocked on Door being kicked down

Potential problems I had problems with lighting in my film, this was because we shot in the night where its dark, and my bedroom lighting is not good, so I had to change the brightness on some of the scenes post production.

Time Table for production Friday 25th may - 19:00 – 23:00 Saturday 26th may - 21:00 – 1:00
