Thursday 2 May What makes an organism? SLO: Give the names and positions of major plant and human organs. Some working on CSI catch-ups Group activity – draw in named human organs on large paper. Friday 3 May Major plant and human organs SLO: Describe what the major plant and human organs do. Paste in SLO’s and keywords Looking at models of monocot stem and leaf cross-sections. Looking at where the specialised tissues are and what they do. Reading p. 6, ES7 as a class and discussing organ shape and function for humans. Reading p. 5, ES7 and comparing diagram with some examples of weeds pulled up from a garden. Complete Qs 1 and 2, p. 6, ES7. Draw plant diagram in books and label main organs, briefly describing functions of each (re-cap biological drawings). Complete the following tasks: Cut the coloured animal and plant cells out and paste them into your book. You will use these for reference. Paste the parts/picture information squares onto card. Cut out and make an envelope to hold them. Make the flip book with parts of the cell. Follow the directions on the sheet. Use the word bank to fill in the blanks – paste sheet into your book. Using the information from the previous activities, learn the names of the different organelles, and then label the plant and animal diagrams. Paste into your book. Complete the VENN diagram. Paste in. Complete the word search. Paste in. Use a colour key for the different organelles and colour in the plant and animal cell. Use a piece of cardboard. Cut out the organelles, arrange onto the board, draw a plant cell and then glue in your organelles and label. `
