HOW TO WRITE THE ESSAY? Have an introduction where you give a bit of context, mention Priestley’s message to try and change attitudes and teach his audience about learning from past mistakes and state a link to the question. If it’s a character question I would have a sentence like: Priestley uses Mr Birling as an exaggerative reflection on upper class men who ignore their social responsibilities so that it teaches both a 1945 and modern day audience to avoid being like Mr Birling. 2. The essay is then you doing a quotation per paragraph covering the whole play. Analyse quotations in detail! 3. Finish with a conclusion where you state what Priestley was trying to achieve and you GO BACK TO THE QUESTION!
