The Chemistry Of Cold Process Soap (CPS) RSC Members and the Public Talk and demonstration of making soap via the Cold Process by Milenka S Grears The CPS soap is made from a blend of extremely nutritious oils, butters, botanicals and other skin-loving ingredients. It is appealing and tactile, which makes the soap more alluring to human senses. The CPS method preserves the nutrients, minerals, vitamins, lipo-proteins and enzymes, it is cruelty free and environmentally friendly. Some of the soaps presented here are formulated for specific skin problems, e.g. psoriasis, eczema and sensitive skin and some are formulated as a luxury product with a myriad of chemical and botanical additives that provide properties such as conditioning, polishing or anti-aging. The talk will discuss the chemistry at the heart of it and also contrast with commercial soaps.
