K-9 Activity Legend: 2 drug finds Ranger: May 3rd – Assist to Sunset on 10-80 / crash We responded to assist Sunset police on a stolen vehicle that crashed after a pursuit. The suspect fled on foot. It is believed he jumped in the canal and floated away. May 13th – CART assist to Centerville PD Centerville had a CART activation for a suicidal juvenile. They had information she was possibly on a mountain side area. She was located at a friends house by reverse 911 during our deployment. May 13th – Assist to Roy on pursuit. Roy had a stolen vehicle pursuit that ended in a crash. Suspects fled from the vehicle in to a neighborhood. About  1.5 hours after the crash Ranger tracked them about .5 miles to a backyard where the male and female suspect were hiding on a deck. May 14th – Assist to UHP in Morgan UHP stopped a car and located significant amount of narcotics in the car. The male passenger fled barefoot in to the wilderness. He was located after an exhaustive search up a mountain side about 2 hours later. He was involved in an incident in FL where two officers were shot. Firearm point use of force as I was alone when he was first located. May 23rd – Assist to Morgan Called to assist Morgan County Sheriffs Office on a special needs juvenile who fled from a residence armed with a knife and crossbow. He was located and taken in to custody without incident.

Detective Division Theft of Firearm/ Felony Theft/ Possession of Controlled Substance.   Victim reported a theft of a handgun from his residence, during a time that it was under repair from the flooding incident that occurred several weeks ago. (broken water pipe, multiple homes involved)   During the investigation the stolen Handgun was found to have been pawned by an individual who was sub contracted to do carpentry work in the victim’s home.  When arrested, the suspect admitted to stealing approximately $1500 dollars worth of additional property that the victim was unaware of.    The suspect also admitted to committing thefts from homes in North Salt Lake and Layton as he was doing contracted repair work. At the time of the arrest he suspect had Methamphetamine in his possession and stated that he committed the thefts to fuel his drug addiction.
