Why Burge do it: We’ve done a number of comprehensive exams over the course of the year, one more will not make a difference. This is a chance for each student to impress me with what they have garnered from the course as a whole. Theoretically, this should boost your mark as it will replace your lowest chapter test score.

How Burge do it. You will have a 6 minute assigned window during the long blocks to: Expand in detail on 1 of 2 diagrams you will bring with you…I choose which one. Expand in detail on 1 of 5 open ended questions I have given you, again, I choose which one. You will be marked out of 25 based on a rubric you will have already seen.

What is happening? You are having a dialogue with your biology teacher about some things you will take away from this course. Your understanding of the material from Biology 12 will be rewarded with a mark reflective of your knowledge. You will have an entire class to prep these things, the rest will have to be your own time.
