What is WINTER GUARD? Winter Guard is the sport of indoor color guard. The use of equipment (such as flags, sabers, rifles, and props) is often combined with dance and interpretive movement to produce a themed performance. Winter guards can be school-based and found in middle schools, high schools, and some universities. There are also some independent Winter Guard groups.

The majority of the building is used during both these events

ONLY props and floors will be unloaded at the back entrance
Performers will unload in the FRONT of the building near the auditorium and must carry in everything they need to toss or throw

Indoors, PERFORMERS travel throughout the entire school Before they perform, they travel on the 2nd floor and go through a strictly timed “rotation”

Teams then travel to the aux gym for “Equipment Warm-Up”

Body Warm-Up and Equipment Warm-Up sessions are timed. Each team’s Body Warm-Up and Equipment Warm-Up sessions are timed. Each team receives a specific amount of time based on their division, and a very strict schedule is followed.

What will student guides do? Student guides will escort teams as they travel through “rotation” and performance You are the team’s personal escort from place to place!
How long will I be volunteering? Your volunteer shift is listed next to your name. Check in with the Student Volunteer Leaders on the 1st floor (outside of the auditorium). Check in 15 MINUTES BEFORE your scheduled shift.
