Before that a small detail about abhinav bindra He was the world and olympic champion in 2008 in the 10m air rifle event. He is the yougest person to represent India at the Olympic Games. By winning gold in the 2008 beijing Olympic Games, he became the first Indian ever to win an individual gold medal at the Olympics. He feels India with a population of more than a billion, should have won forty medals by now.

How did you get into the sport How did you get into the sport ? When did you first start shooting and training ? My family had moved to Chandigarh and I was in search of a pastime. I was always interested in toy guns.I was about 12 years old and a family friend introduced me to Lt Col J.S Dhillon who had a make shift shooting range in his backyard and who became my first coach.

How important is physical fitness to shooting and why ? Physical fitness is important to shooting. Stability ,flexibility and coordination are very important things to work on.Cardiovascular (related to the heart) fitness is important too.

WHAT ABOUT THE METAL ASPECTS OF TRAINING IN A SPORT THAT DEMANDS SUCH CONCENTRATION AND WITH SUCH HIGH LEVELS OF MATCH STRESS ? I have trained with a variety of methods.I have consulted sports psychologists, practised meditation and yoga. Before the Olmypic Games.I had been training an average of forty hours week. At the crunch (final moment) moment, you have to summon the courage and will power to get you through.

What attributes should a natural shooter have ? The first is good hand-eye coordination. Indians have an advantage here. They are good at skilled sports.

CAN YOU TELL us about one or two interesting moments after winning Olympic gold ? Nothing can be more interesting or cherished than the moment the country and all Indians had waited for since the year 1900-when India participated in the Olympics for the first time. I had won Gold and for the first time ever, an Indian was to be on the top of the Podium to receive the Gold Medal while the National Anthem was being played. That proud moment was the culmination of all my efforts, my dreams and my hopes of 1.2 billion Indians , which will be forever imprinted in my memory.
