JPIAMR Core Call Group activities (item 10.2) Management Board Meeting, 2-3 April 2019, Basel JPIAMR Core Call Group activities (item 10.2) Laura Plant (representing Maria Starborg)

Background JPIAMR has launched nine calls for research consortia and networks Improvements of the processes around a call is an ongoing process and to take care of suggested improvements in an overall approach JPIAMR installed the Core Call Group The core call group is instructed to: develop calls within JPIAMR develop best practice and relevant documents suggest standard operating procedures (SOP) in different aspects of calls Core Call Group Members are from past call secretariats, led by Sweden The group has had approx. 4-6 TC meetings per year and discussions via email

Work that has been done so far by the core call group General guidelines for applicants General call procedures Consultations to call secretariats Consulted on specific questions for example related to awarded grants Consulted during the development of the JPIAMR monitoring process and forms

Starting the process of analysing the call outputs as a base for discussions of the instruments

Allocated total budget for the calls compared to funds awarded per country

No of PIs with multiple grants 6.7 % of the PIs in the JPIAMR projects have funding in two projects 16.1 % of the network coordinators also have project funding

Suggested focus for the Core Call Group spring/autumn 2019 Investigate each JPIAMR funders view on the current JPIAMR funding instruments in order to continue to analyse the instruments for example underfunding issues, industry participation etc Continue to analyse funded calls, for example gender issues Develop the JPIAMR portofolio with funding instruments: discuss the Network Plus instrument (item 11), develop ideas of capacity building programs Improve and update call procedures, including review guidelines Update applicant guidelines Suggest to have 3-4 questions regarding the instruments together with a TC with each one of the funders Suggest to have a back-to-back meeting with the review meeting of the ninth call in September

Questions for the Management Board representatives The MB are invited to give comments on the proposed activities as well as bring up other aspects and reflections of importance for JPIAMR calls.
