What is Close Reading?

Why should you annotate a Text?

What markings can we use?

Text Dependent Questions A question is an inquiry – a wonder – something that needs to be answered. A text is a piece of writing. Dependent – depend is the root – what does that mean? You need it. So Text Dependent Question is an inquiry that cannot be answered without using evidence from the text.

Constructed Response Constructed - Construction means to build something.......constructed means that something has been built. Response - A response is an answer Question - A question is an issue or inquiry that requires a response to it. When you put them all together you get the idea that a Constructed Response is a type of answer that you will have to build or create.

R.A.C.E. To answer a constructed response you need a “blueprint”. We are going to use the RACE strategy to help us learn how to answer a text dependent question with a constructed response.
