April 2008 Conclusion In merged devices the PHY and the non-addressable portion of the MAC can be shared. The unique components are the addressable portion of the MAC/ BSSID, the SSID, data handling, AP, DS and portal to the corresponding non-802.11 LAN/ AN [2]. Darwin Engwer, Nortel Networks
