27.4-British Imperialism in India Student Objectives: Analyze British’s policies and approach towards imperializing India. Summarize the reasons for the Sepoy Rebellion and the major effects of it Analyze the second class treatment of Indians under British rule and their attempts at nationalism

What is meant by the jewel in the crown? What were some reasons why India would be referred to in this way?
