SE Asia: Environmental Studies

Most Asians live in rural areas, and farm arable land.

“Arable….” Arable means “good for growing crops”…

Asian cities are HUGE…

… they are so big that they are called urban agglomerations, which is a city plus all of the surrounding towns around it.

The world’s largest urban agglomerations are located Southeast Asia: 1. Tokyo, Japan (37,000,000) 2. Jakarta, Indonesia (26,000,000) 3. Seoul, South Korea (25,000,000) 4. Delhi, India (22,000,000) 5. Shanghai, China (20,000,000)

Population Density: the number of people living per square mile…

90% of China’s population lives along its EAST coast and rivers.

Why would people have to live near rivers and bodies of water?

Most cities in China are located on the coast and rivers in the EAST.
