What is Dual Enrollment? Dual enrollment is the opportunity for high school students to take college courses. We use the term “dual enrollment” to mean that certain criteria has been met in order to qualify as dual enrollment, or coursework where the school district contributes toward the cost. 1-2 class periods release time are allowed and can count toward high school credit, if needed (not recommended)

How does it work/who is eligible? High school students who: a. Meet the required scores on one of the following standardized tests: PSAT, SAT or ACT b. Are enrolled in at least one high school class c. Have applied & are admitted to a post-secondary institution d. Each student should meet individually with a counselor who will make recommendations regarding dual enrollment

Where? Central Michigan University (CMU) Mid Michigan College (Mid)

When? Scheduling courses at CMU or at Mid depends greatly on your high school schedule. Challenges exist with attempting to fit semester courses into a high school trimester format Considerations: prerequisites, daily schedule, travel time, parking, school breaks, extra-curricular, etc. Enough credits for graduation

How much? Dual enrollment costs are figured by the sum of the state portion of the districts’ foundation allowance, per pupil, adjusted for the proportion of the school year that the student attends the postsecondary institution.

Cost Examples CMU 3 credit course (current tuition rate - $417/cr. hr.) = $1251 - $515.50 = $735.50 MMCC 3 credit course (current tuition rate - $202/cr. hr. out of district) = $630 + approx. $155/fees = $785 - $515.50 = $269.50 *2018-2019 rates

Estimated Dual Enrollment Payment Information Dual Enrollment CMU/MMCC 2018-19 MPHS Dual Enrollment CMU/MMCC PRORATED AMT. 4 1 $ 515.50 3 $ 641.17 2 $1025.87 $1282.33 $1538.80 $1923.50 $2051.73 1 non dual $0

Process Apply for admission (CMU now, Mid during app’t with counselor) Students must make appt w/counselor to register for courses at CMU/Mid beginning April 22. Come to appt prepared with course options! Completed registration forms are emailed or FAXed to CMU/Mid by the counselor Adjustments made once high school schedules are created
