Worship the King

TALK ABOUT IT: What is worship?

**Worship is giving back to God the best He’s given to us.

**Worship teaches us how to Pray

**Worship is going to God without asking for anything.

Psalm 8 1O Lord, our Lord, your majestic name fills the earth! Your glory is higher than the heavens.

2 You have taught children and infants to tell of your strength, silencing your enemies and all who oppose you.

3 When I look at the night sky and see the work of your fingers—the moon and the stars you set in place—

4 what are mere mortals that you should think about them, human beings that you should care for them?

5 Yet you made them only a little lower than God and crowned them with glory and honor.

6 You gave them charge of everything you made,     putting all things under their authority—

7 the flocks and the herds     and all the wild animals, 8 the birds in the sky, the fish in the sea, and everything that swims the ocean currents.

9 O Lord, our Lord, your majestic name fills the earth!

Psalm 95 1 Come, let us sing to the Lord!   Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation.

2 Let us come to him with thanksgiving 2 Let us come to him with thanksgiving.  Let us sing psalms of praise to him. 3 For the Lord is a great God,     a great King above all gods.

4 He holds in his hands the depths of the earth and the mightiest mountains. 5 The sea belongs to him, for he made it. His hands formed the dry land, too.

6 Come, let us worship and bow down 6 Come, let us worship and bow down. Let us kneel before the Lord our maker, 7  for he is our God. We are the people he watches over,     the flock under his care.

Psalm 48:8-10 8 We had heard of the city’s glory, but now we have seen it ourselves—the city of the Lord of Heaven’s Armies. It is the city of our God;     he will make it safe forever.

9 O God, we meditate on your unfailing love as we worship in your Temple. 10 As your name deserves, O God, you will be praised to the ends of the earth. Your strong right hand is filled with victory.

Psalm 42 1 As the deer longs for streams of water, so I long for you, O God. 2 I thirst for God, the living God. When can I go and stand before him?

3 Day and night I have only tears for food, while my enemies continually taunt me, saying,     “Where is this God of yours?”

4 My heart is breaking as I remember how it used to be: I walked among the crowds of worshipers, leading a great procession to the house of God, singing for joy and giving thanks amid the sound of a great celebration!

5 Why am I discouraged. Why is my heart so sad 5 Why am I discouraged?     Why is my heart so sad? I will put my hope in God!     I will praise him again—     my Savior and my God!

Psalm 100 1 Shout with joy to the Lord, all the earth! 2     Worship the Lord with gladness.     Come before him, singing with joy

3 Acknowledge that the Lord is God! He made us, and we are his. We are his people, the sheep of his pasture.

4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving; go into his courts with praise 4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving; go into his courts with praise.     Give thanks to him and praise his name.

5 For the Lord is good.     His unfailing love continues forever, and his faithfulness continues to each generation.
