Bishop Justus Church of England School Morning Worship Abraham and Sarah 3rd November 2016 Bishop Justus Church of England School
Let the light of Christ shine in our lives Gather The Lord be with you And also with you Let the light of Christ shine in our lives
Receive The Lord dealt with Sarah as he had said, and the Lord did for Sarah as he had promised. Sarah conceived and bore Abraham a son in his old age, at the time of which God had spoken to him. Abraham gave the name Isaac to his son whom Sarah bore him. From the book of Genesis, chapter 21, verses 1 to 3
Engage God promised Abraham that he and Sarah would have a son and that Abraham would be the father to many nations, to a multitude of people. Abraham did not believe God because Abraham and his wife Sarah were very old. Abraham had to be patient. Sarah gave birth to a son who they called Isaac (which means “he will laugh, he will rejoice”).
Engage Some discussion ideas … Can you remember any news of something that happened that you didn’t expect to happen – what were they? Why is it that the least likely person is often given the most important tasks in the Bible? Video suggestion … An unlikely hero https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4CyCSpBc_cg
Respond Amen God, we don’t always know what is going to happen in our lives. Give us patience that we might work diligently and with perseverance to do the tasks that we have to do. Amen
Go out into the world with the light of Christ Let us bless the Lord Thanks be to God Go out into the world with the light of Christ
