RESOLUTION OF INTENT TO PREPARE A SEASIDE BASIN GROUNDWATER MANAGEMENT PLAN March 15, 2004 BOARD ACTION: CONSIDER ADOPTION OF A RESOLUTION DECLARING THE DISTRICT’S INTENT TO PREPARE A GROUNDWATER MANAGEMENT PLAN FOR THE SEASIDE GROUNDWATER BASIN ADOPT A STATEMENT INVITING PUBLIC INVOLVEMENT IN DEVELOPMENT OF THE GROUNDWATER MANAGEMENT PLAN, INCLUDING FORMATION OF AN ADVISORY COMMITTEE OF INTERESTED PARTIES The mission of the Water Management District is to manage, augment and protect water resources for the benefit of the community and the environment. PURPOSES FOR PREPARING THE SEASIDE BASIN GROUNDWATER MANAGEMENT PLAN FORMALIZES DISTRICT’S EXISTING GROUNDWATER QUANTITY AND QUALITY MONITORING ACTIVITIES IN THE SEASIDE BASIN PROVIDES FRAMEWORK FOR MONITORING, ASSESSING AND PROTECTING THE GROUNDWATER RESOURCES IN THE SEASIDE BASIN COMPLIES WITH DISTRICT LAW AND STATE DIRECTION THAT GROUNDWATER MANAGEMENT IS A LOCAL RESPONSIBILITY MAKES DISTRICT ELIGIBLE FOR STATE FUNDS FOR CONSTRUCTION OF GROUNDWATER PROJECTS The mission of the Water Management District is to manage, augment and protect water resources for the benefit of the community and the environment. COMPONENTS OF THE SEASIDE BASIN GROUNDWATER MANAGEMENT PLAN PUBLIC INVOLVEMENT BASIN MANAGEMENT OBJECTIVES MONITORING AND MANAGEMENT OF GROUNDWATER LEVELS AND QUALITY, LAND SURFACE SUBSIDENCE, AND CHANGES IN SURFACE WATER FLOW AND QUALITY THAT DIRECTLY AFFECT GROUNDWATER LEVELS OR QUALITY OR ARE CAUSED BY GROUNDWATER PUMPING PLAN TO INVOLVE OTHER AGENCIES THAT OVERLIE THE BASIN IN COOPERATIVE MANAGEMENT OF THE BASIN MONITORING PROTOCOLS TO TRACK CHANGES IN CONDITIONS TO MEET MANAGEMENT OBJECTIVES GROUNDWATER BASIN MAP WITH BOUNDARIES OF OVERLYING AGENCIES The mission of the Water Management District is to manage, augment and protect water resources for the benefit of the community and the environment.
