Pick five words that best describe your ambition? Most of the words on this list are synonyms of two words: MASTER and SERVANT

Kingdom of God Is Rightside Up 4 As it is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet, “The voice of one crying in the wilderness: ‘Prepare the way of the Lord, make his paths straight. 5 Every valley shall be filled, and every mountain and hill shall be made low,and the crooked shall become straight,     and the rough places shall become level ways, 6 and all flesh shall see the salvation of God.’” Luke 3: 4-6

The Ambition of the Christian: To Be A Servant!

Three Words for Servant Doulos – slave, subject, bond-servant Diakonos – (from “diako” – to run errands) an attendant, waiter on tables, servant Therapon – a menial attendant, servant

The Great Reversal The last shall be first! Mark 10:31: “ But many who are first will be last, and the last first.”

The Servant-King Mark 10:32-45

Differing Value Systems The World The Great Man Servants The Kingdom Those Served The Great Man

Service is the Highest Form of Being in the Image of God “God does not command sacrificial service for its own sake. He invites it because it results in the demonstration of his greatest attribute, love. True love always results in the action of sacrificial serving. Loving service heals brokenness. It restores. It redeems. This is God’s agenda and when it is fulfilled those who serve are honored and he is glorified.” Dr. Robert Moffitt What was the last thing that Jesus modeled to the disciples before he went to the cross? Service, by washing the disciples’ feet. Why was this the case? Because he wanted his disciples to fulfill the highest purpose for which they were made as human beings. We are meant to serve God in Worship Our fellow human beings with self-sacrificing love Creation with stewardship [1] Moffitt The Mayor, the chapter with the Jewel in the crown. SARAH, please get the exact quote from the publihed book

Servant-Leadership Christ was a servant leader (Mark 10:45; Phil. 2:7). Serving and leading are not contradictions; they are two sides of the same coin: leadership is defined in the context of service service is defined in the context of leadership

Just as serving was essential to Christ’s identity as God, it is essential to our identity as human beings!

It is the standard of Greatness! Servanthood is not the prerequisite for greatness! It is the standard of Greatness!
