Goals for student learning in Florida schools are defined by the Florida Standards and the Next Generation Sunshine State Standards, but there is an additional source that teachers should use as well. The “Required Instruction” chapter of the Florida Statutes (F.S. 1003.42) applies to all teachers and includes a provision for Holocaust education. The law doesn’t require a separate Holocaust course, but rather seeks to infuse instruction on important Holocaust education themes throughout the curriculum as widely as possible.
