Figure 1 Schematic illustration of the effects of FGF21 during AP. Acinar cell damage results in FGF21 expression. Then, PDGF and subsequent activation of PSCs are inhibited. Furthermore, FGF21 can act as inhibitor of the Egr-1 pathway by acting in a paracrine/autocrine fashion via the βKlotho receptor.
