Work Experience 2019 1st July - 12th July

Why do we do it? Learning is not just results based Life experience / new experience To understand the world of work To step out of your comfort zone To think about your future Preparation for real life Because many schools don’t. Huge work and time into this but we continue to offer it because we really value what you get? This has taken a lot of consideration.

Why do we do it? GROWTH RESILIENCE ENERGY EMPATHY NEWNESS

What we need from you... To be responsible and proactive - no excuses and don’t rely on others to be organised To secure a placement as soon as possible (over the summer holidays) To secure a placement that you believe will give you a valuable and worthwhile experience To complete paperwork by the deadlines

What we need from you... Over the summer holidays: Research some possible companies that interest you Ask friends / families if they know anyone who could help - network Contact them by phone or in person if possible (ask to speak to somebody in charge of work experience) Ask the employer to complete the work experience form and return to school

What is a valuable experience? Doesn’t always HAVE to be in the field of work you are interested in Try to step out of your comfort zone (i.e. preferably not with parents/carers) Think about your travel plans

Where should I look? Schools Doctor / dentist / pharmacy / hospital / opticians etc Shops Beauty salons Solicitors / law firms Property Media / TV Local / London sites e.g. William Morris, Vestry House, V&A etc Anything you are interested in… But think about the roles you may have...

Deadlines Monday 10th September (where are we at?) Friday 26th October (40-50%) Friday 21st December (70%) February half term 2019 - FINAL DEADLINE 100% OF YEAR GROUP SORTED.
