Hierarchy of Cells Essential Question: How do cells work together? Image courtesy clker.com

What is a hierarchy? A system of things or persons ranked one above another.

All living things are made of cells. You are made of cells! But what are the steps in between an organism (you) and cells? CELLS  ?  ?  ?  YOU

1. Cells Cells are the smallest living thing. Image courtesy Wilfredo R. Rodriguez H.

2. Tissues Tissues are groups of similar cells working together to do one job.

3. Organs Organ is a structure made up of 2 or more different types of tissues that work together.

4. Organ System An organ system is a group of organs working together to perform a certain function. Images from clker.com

5. Organism Organ systems work together to keep an organism alive. Images from clker.com
