History of King Asa Asa’s good beginning. 1 Kings 15:14-15 He did what was right (v. 11). He did away with the evil among his people (v.12). He did not allow family interference from doing the right thing (v. 13). He not only got rid of the evil, but also restored the good (vv. 14-15)

History of King Asa Asa’s Mistakes. He trusted in political alliances rather than in God. (2 Chron. 16:7-9) He did not receive well the rebuke of God. (2 Chron. 16:10; cf. Acts 7:51-60; 2 Tim. 4:3-4). Even down with an illness from God, Asa did not turn to God for help for recovery. (2 Chron. 16:11-14).

(Prov. 3:5) We must seek the Lord all our lives. (Mt. 6:33; cf. 1 Cor. 15:58; cf. Rev. 2:10) We need God at all times. (Jms. 5:16ff)
