BANK PROFITABILITY (BP) PROGRESS REPORT By Esther BOLTON and Anne DURAND

Introduction Definition : Institutions conducting banking business. National criteria for bank coverage. Enlarging the BP database with new information and indicators.

BP Publication Composition of the publication : tables on financial statements of banks. structure of the financial system. Methodological notes are presented in a separate publication.

Progress Report 2002 Edition released at the end of January 2003. 20 updated questionnaires received. Statworks currently updated. 2004 edition forthcoming :years 2002 and 2003.

Financial Soundness Indicators (FSI) OECD only provider of BP data. Proposed Improvements of BP, see DAFFE/MC/STAT(2002)30. Countries will be sent requests on availability of data and will have to comment on new information required.
