Annex 6, Test procedure (§1.2.3.1.) Expert input required Annex 6, Test procedure (§1.2.3.1.) GTR Text: EXPERT PROPOSAL: 03.11.2014: C. Lueginger /A. Feucht proposal. DC asks: Tests on vehicles H and L shall or should be performed with the same test vehicle, or, Tests on vehicle H and L should be preferably performed with the same test vehicle? STATUS AS OF 16.11.2014: Entered on 03.11.2014 in the GTR as an expert proposal. 6/10/2019
Annex 6, Test procedure (mass) Confirmation requested Annex 6, Test procedure (mass) PROPOSAL: 1.2.3.1. General The test vehicle shall conform in all its components with the production series, or, if the vehicle is different from the production series, a full description shall be recorded. In selecting the test vehicle, the manufacturer and responsible authority shall agree which vehicle model is representative for the CO2 vehicle family. For the measurement of emissions the road load as determined with test vehicle H shall be applied. If at the request of the manufacturer the CO2 interpolation method is used (see paragraph 3.2.3.2 of Annex 7), an additional measurement of emissions shall be performed with the road load as determined with test vehicle L. Both vehicle H and L shall be tested with the shortest final transmission ratio within the CO2 vehicle family. The CO2 interpolation method shall only be applied on those road load relevant characteristics that were chosen to be different between test vehicle L and test vehicle H; for the other road load relevant characteristic(s), the value of test vehicle H shall be applied in the CO2 interpolation method. The manufacturer may also choose not to apply the interpolation method for road load relevant characteristics between test vehicles L and H; in that case the value of the test vehicle H shall be applied in the CO2 interpolation method. TASK: Approval of deletion of the text in red. Expert Proposal (M. Bergmann): agreed, red text is redundant, unclear and partly wrong (interpolation just with vehicle H value is not possible) STATUS AS OF 22.09.2014: Entered in the GTR requesting comments < 31.10.2014. 6/10/2019

GTR Text: DC PROPOSAL: 20.11.2014. Moving the paragraphs (up to and including §1.2.6.5.3.2.) on the use of a manual and automatic transmission from Annex 6 to Annex 2. 6/10/2019
Annex 6, Type 1 test procedure and test conditions Confirmation requested Annex 6, Type 1 test procedure and test conditions GTR Text 1.2.10.: Expert Question: Is „shall“ correct here? TASK: OPEN POINT: Justification of the repetition of 1.2.10.1.1.1. and 1.2.12.5.2.1. is requested. Expert Proposal (M. Bergmann): include reference to 1.2.10.1.1.1 in 1.2.12.5.2.1 and strike out text in 1.2.12.5.2.1 STATUS AS OF 22.09.2014: Entered in the GTR requesting comments < 31.10.2014. 6/10/2019
Annex 6, Type 1 test procedure and test conditions Expert approval required Annex 6, Type 1 test procedure and test conditions GTR Text 2.2.3.1. A "dummy" regenerating system or partial system may be fitted for the preconditioning cycles. 2.2.3.2. Any other method agreed between the manufacturer and the responsible authority. EXPERT PROPOSAL: 29.08.2014: from I. Riemersma, October 2013: It is not explicitly stated here that the system should have reached the point at which it indicates that a regeneration should take place. So technically it would be possible to measure emissions on a partially loaded filter. It is recommended to explicitly describe the point where the system flags that the regeneration should take place. EXPERT PROPOSAL: 29.08.2014: From C. Hosier, October 2013 in response to a question from I. Riemersma: It is implied but not explicit. It is implied because the manufacturer has to allow the regeneration to take place naturally i.e. the only thing the manufacturer is allowed to do is to remove the ‘prevent regeneration’ feature. This means that if the DPF is not full, it won’t regenerate and the vehicle has to be soaked and another attempt made the following day. Same for NOx traps. Quite difficult to describe in regulatory technical terms when the device is ready to regenerate – other than by specific soot loading / delta pressure changes and for LNT by various assorted means. Normally the Technical Service will review the loading process with the manufacturers and determine if this is realistic. Second point, is that there is no advantage to regenerating partly full as the loading distance will be smaller but the energy used to heat the device will be the same – so the fuel consumption hit will likely be bigger over all. Suggest not necessary to define but if this should be done, then, recommend postpone until phase 1B: STATUS AS OF 22.09.2014: Entered in the GTR requesting comments < 31.10.2014 to the above mail exchange.. 6/10/2019
Confirmation requested Annex 6, Appendix 1, Emissions test procedure for vehicles equipped with periodically reg. systems GTR Text (3.1.1.): TASK: OPEN POINT: 11.05.2014: H. Schmidt states that the text should remain as is, i.e., Msi, Mpi and Ki must be recorded. Comments from any other experts are welcome. Expert approval required Annex 6, Appendix 2, Test procedure for electric power supply system monitoring (page 1 of 2) EXPERT PROPOSAL: 29.07.2014: Dr. Ligterink (TNO) and his colleague, Gerrit Kadijk, highlights inconsistencies within the GTR concerning units used in Annex 6, Appendix 2 (Test procedure for electric power supply system monitoring). The problem is whether (a) kW.h, joules or megajoules should be used in equations, and, (b), whether kW.h, joules or megajoiules should be used in the Willans factors, and (c) whether the equations are all correct. This applies also to Annex 7 (Calculations) and to Annex 8 (Evs). STATUS AS OF 22.09.2014: Entered in the GTR requesting comments < 31.10.2014. 6/10/2019
