Skills being practiced: Year 7 English Homework Tasks | Term: Spring 1 | Topic: Narrative and Descriptive Writing – Landscape and Elements Instructions: Each week you will complete one piece of homework. This will be either one of the activities below, or revision from your Knowledge Organiser for a test in class. Your teacher will let you know what homework activity you’re doing and when this should be handed in. Skills being practiced: Writing Skills: Show off your range of vocabulary, your understanding of grammar and your ability to write creatively. Research Challenge: You will need to use a computer or a library to help you find the information needed to complete this task. Homework activity: Describe your favourite journey. This could be your walk to school, a walk that you take your dog on, or another journey that you can describe in detail. Try to use descriptive writing techniques, such as similes, metaphors, personification and imagery. Think about the 5 senses when describing: What can you see? What can you smell? What can you taste? What can you hear? What can you touch? Research the most beautiful place in the United Kingdom: why do people find it so beautiful? What is the history behind it? You might want to think about: The Peak District National Parks Your local area Somewhere in the UK that you have been on holiday Research interesting facts for this place and make a poster to persuade people to visit. If you would prefer, you can make a fact sheet. Reminder: The school library is open at breaks and lunchtime for you to complete any computer-based homework.
