Topics Introduction What is enlightened self-interest ? Unenlightened self-interest Example of Contributor and non-contributor regarding Enlightened Self-interest Contributor qualities regarding “Think In Enlightened Self-interest”: Another Example of Contributor and non-contributor regarding Enlightened Self-interest Strategy regarding enlightened self-Interest How to think a Contributor and non-contributor regarding Enlightened Self-interest? Why enlightened self-interest is important? Developing enlightened self-interest. Conclusion.

Introduction Contributors think in Enlightened Self-Interest. In every situation they get into, they find a way to create good for self and good for all at the same time – including team mates, bosses, customers, their organization. Contrast this with the mindset of a Non-Contributor. Such a person is only concerned with his / her own self-interest in a situation. He/she is not concerned about the impact (positive or negative) on the other person. This leads to unpleasant situations, broken relationships, unhappy team-mates, subordinates, and bosses, and lower trust in any situation.

What is enlightened self-interest ? Enlightened self interest is a philosophy in ethics which states that person who act to further the interest of others (or the interest of the or groups to which they belong),ultimately serve their own self interest. It has often been simply expressed by the belief that an individual ,group ,or even a commercial entity will “do well by doing good”. It can be simply expressed by the belief “helping each other help ourselves”. The idea is that we can create value and wealth for the world, which ultimately serves ourselves ,because we live in the world.

Unenlightened self-interest In contrast to enlightened self-interest is simple greed or the concept of “unenlightened self interest”. In which it is argued that when most or all persons act according to their own myopic selfishness that the group suffers loss as a result of conflict, decreased efficiency because of lack of cooperation.

Contributor I Would Like To Take Real Life Example Of “ANNA HAZARE”. He Has Been A Grate Contributor To The Society. He Initiated A Change For Betterment And Upliftment Of The Society. He Initiated The LOKPAL BILL Movement For The Batter Ment Of Our Country India. The Main Reason Behind LOKPALL BILL Was To Eradicate Corruption From Our Country. He Went On Hunger Strike To Force The Government To Accept The Bill. He Had A Vision Of Corrupt Free India For The Younger Generations To Come .

Non contributor One example I would like to quote for a official is that mr.suresh kalmadi. Although he might have worked hard for the commonwealth games but still there wear lot of negative points that were revealed at a later stage. He with the support of few other people did many things which were not in the welfare of the society. there was a huge expense which was done during the CWG but the same was actually not utilized for that or rather the way it was utilized was not proper. this created a wrong image in the eyes of the foreign players about us as the game at an international level. The incidence shows to a grate the act of kalmadi as non contributor team member.

Contributor qualities regarding “Think In Enlightened Self-interest”: Building a positive attitude . Success –winning strategy. Motivating your self and other everyday. Building positive self-esteem and image. Setting and achieving your goals. Doing the right thing for right reason.

My duty is over. I can’t checkup your cat, so come tomorrow. NON COUNTRIBUTOR COUNTRIBUTOR Actually my Duty is over. But not to worry, I’ll checkup your cat, please come in my Clinic My duty is over. I can’t checkup your cat, so come tomorrow. Please, Doctor Checkup my cat ,Her behavior is not good since last 3 days Please, Doctor Checkup my cat ,Her behavior is not good since last 3 days

ENLIGHTENED SELF-INTEREST Behavior that is in the public interest and which also serve the interest of the person performing it. Begin a civic minded and fair to other is in every one best interests. How kind…..to us!!!! Boss: Let we do work together I think work will go fabulously We Should Work For General Good Rather Then Self Interest

Strategy regarding enlightened self-Interest NON CONTRIBUTOR CONTRIBUTOR Worried only about their narrow role in the total picture. Give respect to only a selected few. Thinks only “win-lose”. Thinks only into account of own interest. Focus on the big picture. Gives respect to all team member Always think for “WIN”. Takes into account the concerns of all stakeholders.

Contributors are focused on the big picture Non-contributors are worried only about their narrow role in the total picture Contributors are focused on the big picture If we can support each other, then the company can deliver a superior product in less cost and time Why should I do this?! This is not my work! The other departments are always taking advantage of our department. The goal is to satisfy the customer. I am quite happy to help / do what is needed to achieve that goal.

WHY ENLIGHTENED SELF-INTEREST IS IMPORTANT?

Developing enlightened self-interest. Begin by practicing enlightened behaviours. Here are some ideas to get you started now: Go out of your way to show positive feelings towards others - gratitude, respect, trust - which in turn will arouse goodwill from them. Choose some new activities in various life areas - work, family, leisure - that will bring goodwill.

At the same time, act assertively At the same time, act assertively. Ask for what you want, say No to what you don’t, and tell others (when appropriate) what you think and how you feel. Make a point of doing something just for you each day for a while. Until enlightened self-interest becomes part of you, consciously seek to get more of what you want while facilitating the interests of the other people in your world.

Great people leave their identity behind Great people leave their identity behind. They know themselves that they did not achieve it alone . They know that behind their success lot of people are involved without whom this would not have been possible.

Non-contributors give respect to only a “select” few Contributors give respect to all team members He is in a high position so I must behave respectfully to him He is a My junior Officer. I can treat him in any way I want It doesn’t matter what the person’s Position or qualification is . All people to be treated respectfully because they Are first and foremost ,human being.

ENLIGHTENED SELF-INTEREST Think of non contributor Think of contributor This boss not give respect to each and every employees, he is always angry on his employees, also his behaviour is not good And This boss is always respect to everyone(Employees),and also his behaviour is always good

conclusion:~ People should try to follow their enlightened self-interest . One should prefer a long –term interest over short term one. “Helping each other to help our selves”. In every transaction , if one operates with the win lose attitude, than one can not collaborate with anybody. By operating out off deep enlightened self interest, contributors are able to account for all stakeholders in complex real world situation.
