A Pneumatic Device to make modules assembly easier (faster ?)
The EMCal Modules assembly tooling today
Some features of modules assembly tooling During initial set up, one have to tight the 5 screws by doing tours of the 5 screws with roughly ¼ turn at each tour : this is a time consuming process, 40 times ¼ turn assuming 1 mm pitch for screws and 2 mm average displacement. Loading the stack by screw is not a «following» loading : as the stack creeps, the compression load decreases until equilibrium, and need to be restored many times if an efficient compression process is wished: a « following » load shoud allow better compression for a given time, or faster compression for a given creeping. 3. During final setup, transfering compression load from screws to Belleville washers is a critical operation as any change on one of the 5 setting points impacts on the 4 others points : once again some «tours» are required in order to perform equal load for each row of Belleville Washers.
