Justifications to replace Imports by Local Production Introduction of a new productive industry Enticing investment Accumulation of knowledge Creation of jobs and reduction of unemployment Contribution towards food security Reduction of dependence on imports and their escalating prices

Agricultural Subsidies in the Industrialized Countries Objective is food safety and food security Average Farm Bills in the US = $100 billion/year during last 10 years Farm subsidies in the EU reached Eur. 62 billion/year Subsidies include exported crops such as corn and soya … a deterrent to third world countries from producing their own

Free Trade Agreements and the Third World Countries The roots of globalization are imperialistic in nature towards third world countries They restrict development in the production sectors They keep third world countries importers and consumers Such imposed policies will not allow third world countries from developing Hence unemployment mounts: terrorism and refugees are created

Protectionist Policies of Industrialized Countries Industrialized countries, creators of globalization, practice protectionism Agricultural products, food and medicines are not part of the WTO agreements Industrialized countries resort to severe quality standards as an indirect deterrent to imports Industrialized countries, particularly USA, do not hesitate to violate ongoing trade agreements USA prevents imports of poultry meat from Brazil

Freedom of Trade Free Trade agreements have left underdeveloped countries underdeveloped with high unemployment Free Trade agreements do not include migration of excess labor from the underdeveloped countries to the industrialized ones Underdeveloped countries should rid themselves from all free trade agreements and resort to Freedom of Trade Self sufficiency in poultry meat production in the underdeveloped and developing countries is achievable with protectionist policies
