How do you form the present tense of –ER verbs? It is very easy! All you need to do is remember 5 easy steps...
STEP 1 Chose you –ER verb and write it down: DANSER (to dance)
STEP 2 Take off the –ER ending. You are left with THE STEM. ‘DANS’ (this is your stem)
STEP 3 Write the 9 subjects of your verb: Je Tu Il Elle On Nous Vous Ils Elles I You (informal) He She One / Someone We You (formal / group) They (masculine) They (feminine)
STEP 4 Write the stem next to your 9 subjects: Je dans Tu dans Il dans Elle dans On dans Nous dans Vous dans Ils dans Elles dans
STEP 5 Write the present tense endings at the end of the stem. Je danse Tu danses Il danse Elle danse On danse Nous dansons Vous dansez Ils dansent Elles dansent
