Campus of International Excellence UAM+CSIC: Teaching and EHEA

TEACHING AND EHEA Challenges for EHEA implementation: quality assurance. International graduate program: strategy 2015. Life-long learning.

Quality Assurance and EHEA Main areas of improvement in the Teaching Quality during past years (1): Formative actions in teaching skills for UAM faculty: from 194 participants in 2006-07 to 1201 in 2010-11. Plans for EHEA implementation: Innovations projects: 311 experimental syllabus only in 2007/08, Design of new courses and graduate programs (41 undergraduate, 69 graduate) Improvment of equipment and facilities (41 classrooms)

Quality Assurance and EHEA Main areas of improvement in the Teaching Quality during past years (2): Teaching assesment: we have been conducting surveys about student’s satisfaction since 1981. We have implemented DOCENTIA, a peer-review system of evaluation of teching practices (400 faculties from 2006) Design of the Internal Quality Assurance System in all the programs. Innovation projects related to EHEA: near 400 from 2005, which cover from on-line teaching to internationalization of graduate programs.

Quality Assurance and EHEA Strategic areas for academic excellence 2011-12. All these areas must be put together: the central axis of the academic excellence must be a system of monitoring and improvement of our Academic Programs. This demands the integration of the whole system of data and indicators and… … the involvement of the faculty and staff in the analysis and improvement of plans.

Quality Assurance and EHEA Future Challenges Faculty staff members must be involved in the quality process... … by showing that the system allows a real improvement in learning outcomes. And finally, we must enhance the links between excellence researching and teaching.

Graduate Programs: Internationalization Strategy 2015: being a Campus of graduate students. During 2009-10 and 2010-11, we have been working through three lines: Pursue joint or doubles degree mostly with European Universities, Increase the number of matters tought in English. Growing applications to Eramus Mundus Program.

Graduate Programs: Internationalization TEACHING IN ENGLISH JOINT AND DOUBLE DEGREES ERASMUS MUNDUS ATLANTIS GRADUATE SCHOOLS INTERNATIONALIZATION RESEARCH UAM+CSIC STAFF MASTER AND PH. D. PROGRAMS

Graduate Programs: Internationalization First outcomes: We are involved in 4 joint or double degree Master Program, with Mälarladen University, Paris-Dauphine and Paris 3. We are in process of signal another two ones. During 2010-11, we are teaching more than 30 matters in English. Next course, at least 6 Master programs will be teached almost entirely in English. Currently we are appliying for 6 Erasmus Mundus program, 2 for Master and 4 doctorate. We have achieved by now one Eramus, Theoretical Chemistry and one Atlantis in Mathematics.

Graduate Programs: Internationalization FIRST OUTCOMES 30 NEW MATTERS IN ENGLISH + 6 MASTER 4 JOINT DEGRESS + 2 IN PROGRESS 2 ERASMUS+ ATLANTIS 6 IN PROCESS

Graduate Programs: Internationalization Future challenges. Keep on working through these lines, but focusing on a more aggresive communication strategy. We will put advertisements of our best graduate programs in world class scientific reviews. Use the existing Erasmus agreements to foster graduate students mobility within EEES.

Life-long Learning a Strategic Focus for UAM+ CSIC Goals: employability  social inclusion productivity Improve professional qualifications Develop new areas of expertise  Knowoledge transfer

Life-long learning School It is created with the aim of creating an inclusive environment for synergies Currently being coordinated : 63 programs over 20 ECTS. 85 programs of less 20 ECTS.
