Finding Fractions of Amounts A quick way to remember what to do is: “Divide by the bottom, times by the top”

Finding Fractions of Amounts 2 7 If you are asked for of an amount 1 7 2 7 Find by dividing by 7 and then find by multiplying by 2. 2 7 To find of 35: 35 ÷ 7 = 5 5 x 2 = 10 2 7 of 35 is 10

Finding Fractions of Amounts 5 9 If you are asked for of an amount 1 9 5 9 Find by dividing by 9 and then find by multiplying by 5. 5 9 To find of 63: 63 ÷ 9 = 7 5 x 7 = 35 5 9 of 63 = 35

With a calculator… The amount… Divide by 100 Multiply by the percentage stated in the question… Find 37.5% of £120

Express a number as a percentage of another One number as a percentage of another identified number total amount ×100 Example 23 as a percentage of 25 23 25 ×100 Could come up in task 3

Ethan is following a healthy diet plan and is allowed 3000 calories and 30 grams of fat a day. He is trying to decide what to have for his lunch. If he chooses a chicken sandwich what percentage of his daily allowance of fat will that be?
