Intrinsic Motivation Intrinsic motivation is the most valuable but uncommon type of motivation. We tend to be our own worst enemies! This involves being your own advocate, cheering yourself on, creating goals for the sake of achieving them, etc. People with strong intrinsic motivation tend to challenge themselves more & be more self-assured. There is also a correlation with good self-discipline & responsibility. To be very basic, intrinsic motivation is reading for pleasure, extrinsic motivation is reading for school. 7/7/2019
