Calculation Policies KS1

Objectives 1. Understand the difference between each year group expectations. 2. Understand the progression of skills. 3. Consider giving children the freedom to select the most appropriate method.

What can we do to support our children? Secure with number bonds to 10 and 20. Secure with times tables (up to 12 x 12 by end of year 4). Expose children to missing number problems ___ x 6 = 18 18 = ___ x 6 Expose children to alternative vocabulary. Example: Addition = add, altogether, combine.
