The two farmers: Seem quite blissful although they are isolated in the Australian outback The fences: Associated to their cheerfulness Must have been extremely hard-working The Aboriginal hunter: Seems to blend in his surroundings His position symbolically links him to his native land His weapon: he succeeds in on what nature has to offer

Although the two picture seem to be in sharp contrast at first: modern-day sedentary farmers who have claimed ownership of the land (fences) A nomadic native Australian (who blends into the bush) * The people seem to enjoy a harmonious relationship with the land * Given the representation of such an arid landscape, Australia must have been quite a challenging land to settle in
