About Mrs. Hagenlock 18 years teaching K, 1st, and 3rd Mom of 3 Lived in 5 states Love golf and traveling Love hot cocoa, dark chocolate, peppermint patties, and ICE brand flavored waters- especially their mango If I could live anywhere it would be at the beach!

About Mrs. Toms 12 years working at Legacy in a variety of capacities Mom of 2 Love gardening and hiking Just moved to White Post where there is a lot of land and places to explore! If I could live anywhere it would be at the beach!

Conferences I will send out a Sign-Up Genius for conferences Conferences will begin mid October and last about 20 minutes After this date we can meet at any time, just send me an email to request one.

Take Home Folder Goes Home Daily Empty Folder and Return to School Put important papers and money in the Take Home folder. If you are sending in money, please label it with your child’s name and the purpose of the money. Dismissal changes should be put in here as well.

Volunteering I will use volunteers often! Each month I will send out a Sign Up Genius with opportunities for that month We will need volunteers for at least the first 7 days with lunch

Lunch and Snack Lunch is at 10:50- 11:20 (feel free to join your child) Lunch is $3.05 make checks out to County of Loudoun. Include your child’s student ID on the memo line. Lunches can be paid for online using www.payforlunch.com Discuss buying “extras” with your child Snack- please label snacks daily Water bottles (Camelbak is great & doesn’t leak!) Fruits, vegetables, cheese, dry snacks Please avoid messy snacks or things requiring utensils No nuts

Dismissal Whether your child is a walker, car rider, or goes home by bus or daycare, your child will go from one adult to another at dismissal time. Please make sure you send in dismissal change forms Any dismissal changes need to be via phone or note prior to 2 pm daily.

Behavior Management Legacy is a PBIS school. Students are expected to BARK: Be Respectful, Act Responsibly, Respect Everyone, Kindness Counts Students/classes can earn Bark Bones for displaying positive behavior. Students redeem 10 bark bones in the office and will be acknowledged in the Bark Walk. Classroom incentives are offered for earning classroom Bark Bones. We will use a classroom fuzzies positive behavior program daily

Language Arts Daily 5 Writer’s Workshop Shared Reading Guided Reading Students work independently or in small groups and choose from five activities to complete : Read to Self, Read to Someone, Listen to Reading, Work with Words, Work on Writing Writer’s Workshop Students are engaged in mini lessons and then writing independently from the lessons given. Shared Reading Teacher and students are engaged in a shared reading experience Guided Reading Teacher assists and instructs as students read Interactive Reading Student learn reading skills of a good reader through a read aloud book where the teacher uses oral self- thought of good reading skills and then students are given time to practice these skills. Interactive Writing Teacher and students share the pen for writing

Dismissal Tags Whether your child is a walker, car rider, or goes home by bus or daycare they will now be issued a GREEN TAG. This stays on their backpack ALL YEAR. Bus riders will be issued 3 tags- 1 for student, 2 for parents/sibling picking them up at their stop Bus passes- notes must have the adult name of w Who will be meeting them at the bus stop and that person will show id. Field Trips We are so excited to be taking 2 field trips this year in kindergarten. We will need volunteers for the trip. Our Fall field trip is to the farm-Cox Farm Our Spring field trip will be to Bowl America to practice subtraction! Stay tuned!

Birthdays Invitations for birthday parties will only be handed out if every child in the class is invited. Please use the class directory for mailing invitations if you are unable to invite everyone. We are a birthday treat free school. You may like to send in a book or classroom game for indoor recess in honor of your child’s birthday. The gift will be recognized as a donation with a special birthday sticker sharing your child’s name with the class.
