Turk Disappointed Coronado sent groups out to explore and search for treasure He sent out several groups and his group stayed with the Tiguex Indians There he met Turk, who told tales of Quivira, another city of gold Many of the Spaniards doubted this story Yet Coronado thought it was worth the risk

The Journey Guided by Turk, Coronado set out in search of Quivira in 1541 Along the journey they saw their first buffalo and met many Indians They moved through the Cap rock Escarpment and the Palo Duro Canyon They finally made it to Quivira near now Wichita, Kansas

Gold…… At Quivira they saw no gold, they found grass huts and corn Turk then explained why he lied to them and Coronado had him killed Coronado returned to Mexico City in 1542 and noted that the buffalo could be a valuable resource to the Spanish FAILED
