The Awards Before Summer 2009 The Awards Summer 2009 Focused on leadership but no standard or outcomes. Aligned to the Girl Scout Leadership Experience. Each grade level guidelines offers an experience for girls to develop leadership skills/achieve the girl outcomes and to have impact in the community. Prerequisites include Girl Scout Interest Patches, Badges. Career and leadership awards are pre- requisites at the silver and gold levels. Journeys, a nationally consistent foundation on which girls build, are the only prerequisite as follows. Individual or Group Project Possible at every grade level. Bronze level girls -- troop or group. Silver level -- small group or an individual project. Gold - individual Progression defined at the prerequisite level not by project. Take Action Project Differentiation Sustainability not clearly identified/outlined.Sustainability outlined. Bronze - After the project is complete, girls develop an understanding of sustainability by talking together about how solutions can be lasting. Silver - Girls demonstrate an understanding of sustainability in the project plan and implementation. Gold - Take Action Project includes provisions to ensure sustainability.

The Awards Before Summer 2009 The Awards Summer 2009 Global not addressed.Bronze - After the project is complete, girls develop an understanding of the wider world by talking together about how others may experience the same problem that their project helped resolve. Silver - Girls connect with new friends outside their immediate community, learn how others have solved similar problems and determine if the ideas of others can help with their plan. Gold - Girls identify national and/or global links to their selected issue. They learn from others and develop a plan to share the results of their project beyond the local community. Required Hours at each Grade Level Bronze - 15 hours Silver – 40 hours Gold – 65 hours Suggested Hours at each Grade Level Bronze – 20 suggested minimum hours Silver - 50 suggested minimum hours Gold – 80 suggested minimum hours
