RAB GOLD Committee Scope Approved at Committee GOLD Committee Annual Meeting (March) 2006 SCOPE: GOLD Program focuses on needs of the recent graduates and young professionals. Recent graduates are defined as those typically 2-3 years after graduation with their first professional degree in an IEEE related field. This includes graduate students (GSM). RAB GOLD Committee Functions 1.Collaborate with IEEE entities to achieve the committee's vision and mission. 1.Membership Development: Conceive, develop, and advocate IEEE GOLD-specific benefits and services to the appropriate IEEE entities and at conferences, symposia and similar events. Promote strategies to facilitate the transition from Student Member to higher grade and to work with the Student Activities Committee (SAC) to achieve this goal. Develop strategies to encourage the retention and promotion of GOLD membership. 1.Volunteer Development: Recognize GOLD activities performed by individuals or entities. Identify and develop volunteer leaders among GOLD members and promote their representation in appropriate IEEE entities. 1.Region Activities: Promote and coordinate the establishment, support and sustainability of GOLD Affinity groups. 1.Society Activities: Develop initiatives for increasing value of societies to GOLD members. 1.Promote IEEE awards that recognize GOLD members. IEEE launched Beta release of IEEE.TV on August 15. An internet-based broadcasting network that produce and deliver prerecorded, special-interest programming for engineers and technologists. Programs are available for members-only and general public. The outcome will be reported to RAB in Nov.
