“Life is a lot like jazz…it’s best when you improvise” Composer of the Month George Gershwin 1898 - 1937   Gershwin was an American composer and pianist best known for his jazz opera “Porgy and Bess” and his orchestral work “Rhapsody in Blue”. Together with his brother Ira he also wrote many classic songs that are still performed today. Gershwin combined classical and jazz music moving onto film scores until he died from a brain tumour. “Life is a lot like jazz…it’s best when you improvise” Welcome to our Celebration Assembly
