The Awards Environmental Improvement (EIA) –Most Improved plant awarded by Category –Awarded to those plants that make considerable environmental improvement –May have multiple recipients Environmental Excellence (EEA) –Awarded to the one plant in each Category that best demonstrates environmental excellence and innovative management Categories: –A: 1-10 trucks –B: 10+ trucks
Purpose of the Awards To recognize members that: Make outstanding contributions to preserving and protecting the environment Provide environmental leadership for the ready mixed concrete industry Maintain sound environmental management practices in their operations Install state-of-the-art environmental equipment and/or implement environmentally friendly plant procedures
Eligibility Open only to CRMCA Producer Member fixed plant sites May submit EEA applications by Category –Previous winners not eligible for 5 years –Up to 3 Honorable Mentions may be awarded for each Category May submit EIA applications by Category Plants submitted for EEA may be awarded EIA if entry documents show improvement during the current period
Judges Environmental Excellence Award winners from the previous year NCDENR and SCDHEC representatives CRMCA staff member Environmental Consultant
REQUIREMENTS AND REWARDS
Environmental Improvement Awards One Improvement Award for each Category –Multiple Honorable Mention awards may be awarded for each category Examples of improvements include: –air emissions –water discharges –site aesthetics –noise reduction –creative training –environmental procedures –implementation of an Environmental Management System
Environmental Improvement Award Winners will Receive… A plaque at the CRMCA Annual Convention A press release that they may submit to their local newspaper Recognition in the CRMCA newsletter and other industry publications
Environmental Excellence Award This Award is only presented for Environmental Excellence If, in the opinion of the judges, no entry meets the minimum standards established for this Award, no Award will be given in the category for the year
Environmental Excellence Award Winners will Receive… One complimentary registration to the CRMCA Convention for the company representative submitting the winning entry An Environmental flag for the plant A press release that they may submit to their local newspaper Recognition in the CRMCA newsletter and other industry publications A judge position for the next years awards
