Presentation transcript:

ABI T. Schmit has been working on this GOES-R project since 1999. This project is with Jun Li, Mat Gunshor of CIMSS. Instrumental (with P. Menzel) defining ABI band selection ABI was originally only 8 bands, now it’s a 16-band imager! Had also suggested 0.55 and 3.7 um bands Generated many ABI datasets and briefings Developed a (beta) VISITview lesson on the ABI ABI web page: http://cimss.ssec.wisc.edu/goes/ABI/ Advanced Baseline Imager on GOES-R Full Disk with stepped-edge 16 simulated spectral bands
