Presentation transcript:

Name: Cassiopeia Common Name: The Queen When Visible: Circumpolar Mythology: Cassiopeia was the queen of Ethiopia. She liked to brag that her beautiful daughter Andromeda was more beautiful than the daughters of the sea god. This angered Poseidon who then threatened to ruin the kingdom of Ethiopia. To save their land Cassiopeia and Cepheus (the king) agreed to sacrifice their daughter to the sea monster (Cetus). They chained Andromeda to a rock near the sea. As Cetus approached, Perseus on his winged horse Pegasus saved her! Yahoo! Cassiopeia was then put in the sky as punishment.
