HIGHER EDUCATION IN YOUTH WORK

CHALLENGES - Lack of common definition, identity and shared language of youth work and youth workers - Access to higher education in Youth work in all countries (ratio and balance in different levels) - Recognition of prior practice – both in the absence of higher education and in addition to it

Challenges - Connection between theory and practice – educators should be engaged in practice - Youth work research (specifically as a discipline) - Funding and resources- time and discussion. - Targeted youth work vs universal youth work – restricting

FUTURE - European network – global classroom, reflection spaces - Youth work research - Legitamacy through higher education of youth work - Proactive approaches – funding and resources

Future - Adapting to change, remaining current in developments - Validation of experience, skills and practice. - Common language and understanding to help standardise view of youth work - Mapping- situation of higher education options available.
