Computer Network Information Center, Chinese Academy of Sciences AG Activities in China Kai Nan Computer Network Information Center, Chinese Academy of Sciences APAN AG Workshop, 26 Aug. 2003

Outline AG Nodes Installation AG Applications AG-related Research

AG nodes in China Beijing University of Aeronautics & Astronautics (BUAA) (2 nodes) Computer Network Information Center, Chinese Academy of Sciences Tsinghua University (2 nodes) ----listed on http://www.accessgrid.org/community/nodes.html

AG Node at CNIC -- Run since Feb. 2002

AG Applications NSFCNET – 1999 International collaboration – CNIC NSFC Video Conference DOE Emergency Video Conference System CAS Emergency Video Conference System

NSFCNET Funded by NSFC (National Science Foundation of China) Built 1999-2000 Backbone 2.5G/10G 6 nodes in Beijing (institutes and universities) Testbed for NGI and advanced applications

NSFCNET Demo Site

July 2000

SC2001 - Nov. 2001

Demo – Aug. 2002

NSFC Meeting – June 2003

AG-related Research Admire (Advanced Multimedia Real time Environment) Developed by National Lab of Software Development Environment (NLSDE), BUAA Feature-added upon UCL Mbone tools Compatible with AG VIC: Ddraw ability Real-time screen capturing ability up to 800*600 RAT: Low processing latency( we add more threads) Higher quality (44K sampling) Recording source detecting Whiteboard: Support more image formats (gif, jpeg) COM object embedded (WORD/PPT/etc) Telepointer Integrated environment Up to 15 vic images added AdminTool added, which at “chair” side , controls who can send data; and at “partner” side, requests floor.

AG-related stuff Use AG as collaboration environment for Grids SDG (Scientific Data Grid) CNGrid (China National Grid) Also use VRVS and H.323 systems

Thanks!
