America The Beautiful Ambassador Hymnal #630

O beautiful for spacious skies, For amber waves of grain, For purple mountain majesties Above the fruited plain. America! America! God shed His grace on thee, And crown thy good with brotherhood From sea to shining sea.

O beautiful for pilgrim feet Whose stern impassioned stress A thoroughfare for freedom beat Across the wilderness. America! America! God mend thine ev’ry flaw, Confirm thy soul in self-control, Thy liberty in law.

O beautiful for heroes proved In liberating strife, Who more than self their country loved, And mercy more than life. America! America! May God thy gold refine Till all success be nobleness, And ev’ry gain divine.

O beautiful for patriot dream That sees beyond the years Thine alabaster cities gleam Undimmed by human tears. America! America! God shed His grace on thee, And crown thy good with brotherhood From sea to shining sea.

Confession of Sin Ambassador Hymnal Pg. 48 #4 Heavenly Father, we come before You to seek Your mercy and grace. We have sinned against You and against ourselves with our wrong attitudes of selfishness and pride.

Confession of Sin Ambassador Hymnal Pg. 48 #4 We have not followed completely what You have told us in Your Word and have at times even rebelled against Your ways. We are sorry.

Confession of Sin Ambassador Hymnal Pg. 48 #4 We seek Your forgiveness and cleansing through Your Son Jesus Christ, to whom all praise and glory will be given. In His name, Amen.

Acts 4:1-21

Apostles’ Creed p. 4 in Ambassador Hymnal I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth; And in Jesus Christ, His only Son our Lord; Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit; born of the virgin Mary; suffered under Pontius Pilate; was crucified, dead and buried; He descended into hell; the third day He rose again from the dead;…

Apostles’ Creed p. 4 in Ambassador Hymnal …He ascended into heaven; And is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; From where He shall come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit; The holy Christian Church, the Communion of Saints; the Forgiveness of sins; The Resurrection of the body, and the Life everlasting, Amen.

We give Thee but Thine own, Whate’er the gifts may be; All that we have is Thine alone, A trust, oh Lord, from Thee. Amen.

Children’s Message

Holy, Holy, Holy Ambassador Hymnal #134

Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty! Early in the morning our song shall rise to Thee; Holy, holy, holy! merciful and mighty! God in Three Persons, blessed Trinity!

Holy, holy, holy! all the saints adore Thee! Casting down their golden crowns around the glassy sea; Cherubim and seraphim falling down before Thee, Which wert, and art, and evermore shalt be.

Holy, holy, holy! though the darkness hide Thee! Tho’ the eye of sinful man Thy glory may not see; Only Thou art holy; there is none beside Thee, Perfect in power, in love, and purity.

What?! (The 2nd Commandment) Exodus 20:7

Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord Thy God in vain for the Lord will not hold him guiltless who taketh His name in vain. What does this mean?

Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord Thy God in vain for the Lord will not hold him guiltless who taketh His name in vain. What does this mean? We should fear and love God so that we do not curse, swear, conjure, lie or deceive by His Name, but call upon Him in every time of need and worship Him with prayer, praise and thanksgiving.

What does this mean? We should fear and love God so that we do not curse, swear, conjure, lie or deceive by His Name, but call upon Him in every time of need and worship Him with prayer, praise and thanksgiving.

What’s in a Name?

#38 What is meant by the “name” of God? 1. The usual names given to Him in the Bible.

#38 What is meant by the “name” of God? The usual names given to Him in the Bible. His nature and attributes and all by which He is especially known, such as His Word, sacraments, and works.

“The highest science, the loftiest speculation, the mightiest philosophy, which can ever engage the attention of a child of God, is the name, the nature, the person, the work, the doings, and the existence of the great God whom he calls his Father.”

What NOT to do!

#39 When is the name of God taken in vain? When it is used in a thoughtless and mocking manner and without devotion and reverence.

#40 How is this done? When we use God’s name or Word in jesting or as a byword. When we find fault with anything God has done. When we use the name of God in cursing, swearing, conjuring, or deceiving.

#45 Are cursing and swearing sinful when the name of God is not used? Yes, indeed; for whatever we curse or swear by; we really do so by God, who is the Lord of all things.

#48 How do we lie and deceive in the name of God? By perjury, false teaching, and hypocrisy.

#49 What must he expect who takes the name of God in vain? Great punishment, both in time and eternity; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain. (Exodus 20:7)

What should we do?

#50 How do we use the name of God properly? When we sincerely call upon Him in every time of need and worship Him with prayer, praise, and thanksgiving.

Wonderful Grace of Jesus Ambassador Hymnal #549

Wonderful grace of Jesus, Greater than all my sin; How shall my tongue describe it, Where shall its praise begin? Taking away my burden, Setting my spirit free, For the wonderful grace of Jesus reaches me.

Wonderful the matchless grace of Jesus, Refrain: Wonderful the matchless grace of Jesus, Deeper than the mighty rolling sea; Higher than the mountain, sparkling like a fountain, All-sufficient grace for even me; Broader than the scope of my transgressions, Greater far than all my sin and shame; O magnify the precious name of Jesus, Praise His name!

Wonderful grace of Jesus, Reaching to all the lost, By it I have been pardoned, Saved to the uttermost; Chains have been torn asunder, Giving me liberty, For the wonderful grace of Jesus reaches me.

Wonderful grace of Jesus, Reaching the most defiled, By its transforming power Making him God’s dear child, Purchasing peace and heaven For all eternity— And the wonderful grace of Jesus reaches me.

The LORD’s Prayer Our Father, Who art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven; Give us this day our daily bread: And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us,

The LORD’s Prayer And lead us not into temptation; But deliver us from evil; For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, And the glory, forever and ever. AMEN.

Amen

Have a blessed day!
