Thought Police Agency that detects those who are against the Party by subversive actions – committing thought crime Thought Crime – any thought or action of intelligence against the Party; punishable by vaporizing Doublethink – knowing something to be true but believing in its opposite at the same time Winston knows that there was a “normal” way of life before the Party took over, but is forced to believe that the Party brought about a better way of life
